On the evening of September 19, 2020, in order to implement the development strategy of "Healthy China 2030" and strengthen the "Belt and Road" international medical cooperation, the "Belt and Road" Minimally Invasive Medicine Academy and the first online training program for international medical talents in urology were successfully opened at SRRSH.

The project is jointly carried out by SRRSH, Health Human Resources Development Center (HHRDC) of Ministry of Health and the Arab Association of Urology. It is a combination of offline and online programs. Many distinggushed leaders and more than 30 urologists from the Arab region attended the meeting, including Dr. Junhua Zhang, Secretary of the Party Committee of HHRDC, Prof. Tianhua Zhou, Vice President of Zhejiang University, Prof. Xiujun Cai, President of SRRSH, Prof. Guoqing Ding, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Prof. Arthur, Secretary General of the Arabic Urology Association and Dean of the School of Urology, Prof. Gonghui Li, Director of the Department of Urology at SRRSH, Prof. Ms. Zhan Yirei, Director of Center for International Collaboration.

Professor Cai Xiujun delivered a speech on behalf of the Hospital. He said that internationalization and minimally invasive treatment are the two “golden business cards” of the Hospital. He expected that SRRSH will scale a new height through this project with the Arab Association of Urology and try their best to benefit more people.

Dr. Zhang Junhua pointed out that the "Belt and Road" Minimally Invasive Medicine Academy training program not only helps to strengthen the medical technology exchange between China and Arabic countries but also provides opportunities to cultivate a number of important medical talents from Arabic countries.

Professor Zhou Tianhua delivered the opening speech and said that as the first hospital to introduce minimally invasive technology, SRRSH is considered as the pioneer in the field of minimally invasive surgery in China. It is expected that the Minimally Invasive Medicine Academy will cooperate with different regions around the world, and contribute to expanding the international influence of Zhejiang University.

Professor Arthur said that he had visited SRRSH and was deeply impressed by the management, minimally invasive medicine and culture of the hospital. He said that there are more than 5,000 urologists in 22 Arabic countries, this cooperation will be a valuable learning platform for urologists.

On behalf of all urologists, Dr. Li Gonghui briefly introduced the situation of the Department of Urology at SRRSH. Director Ulaf from Libya made a speech on behalf of more than 30 urologists from 22 Arabic countries who were trained. "This public training program has provided us with a very valuable learning opportunity, and we hope to maintain a long-term friendly cooperative relationship with the Department of Urology at SRRSH.” He said.

After the launch ceremony, the first training course of the Urology International Medical Talent Online Training Program began. Dr. Zhenghui Wang and Dr. Shibin Zhu were trainers of the course. After the thematic training course, Director Li Kunghui, Prof. Arthur and the two speakers patiently answered more than 20 questions raised by the trainees.

As the night wore on, the "Belt and Road" Minimally Invasive Medicine Academy Launching Ceremony was completed successfully. We hope that the "Belt and Road Minimally Invasive Medicine Academy" will be able to cooperate with different regions of the world in the near future and continue to shine on the world stage. Let's look forward to the second phase of the online training program for international medical talents in urology.
