On August 23, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) releases its granted programs for year 2024. SRRSH received 105 grants worth 45.88 million CNY from NSFC. Despite generally declining funding rate, it stood out from the stiff competition by its strong capacity for scientific research and untiring pursuit of innovation, scoring a record high in the number and amount of NSFC grants.

Over the past 5 years, SRRSH has embraced a sustained growth in NSFC grant number and amount with the two categories’ growth rates reaching 15.4% and 16.9% respectively compared with data from last year. The granted programs include 1 national key program, 3 programs of the Excellent Young Scientists Fund, 40 general programs, 59 programs of the Young Scientists Fund, 1 program of the Foreign Young Scholars Research Fund, 1 international program etc.

These programs cover 30 key clinical areas, including general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology and obstetrics, cardiology, and respiratory and critical care medicine, oncology, urology, rheumatology and immunology, hepatopathy and infection, andrology, dermatology, nephrology, gastroenterology, thoracic surgery, ophthalmology, neurology, pathology, ultrasound medicine, mental health, radiology, anorectal surgery, emergency medicine, anesthesia, head and neck surgery, cardiac surgery, hematology, pharmacy, tumor surgery, and critical care medicine.
