This is our 3rd episode of #24Solarterms&health!

Bid farewell to the glistening autumn days and welcome #Beginningofwinter, the 18th traditional Chinese solar term of the year. Winter is not all about fallen leaves and chilly winds. Remember, it’s also the best time to enjoy hot dumplings with your loved ones to keep out the cold!

Health tips from our Traditional Chinese Medicine physician:

Optimal time for tonics: Winter is all about “storing” (冬藏), so incorporating ingredients like Chinese wolfberry, yam, and walnut in your diet can help prepare your body for the rejuvenation of spring.

Avoid excessive sweating: Sweating too much can deplete your body’s Qi (气)and increase the risk of catching a cold. Engage in moderate exercises such as Tai-chi, jogging, and yoga to promote the flow of Qi and blood without overexerting yourself.

Foot massage: Many meridians converge in the feet. Take time each day to locate and knead any tender spots in your feet to clear blockages in meridians and enhance your overall well-being.
