Bidding farewell to winter and ushering in the Beginning of Spring, the first 24 traditional Chinese solar terms. Although the wind is still chilly, the steps toward nature’s new chapter hasten. Each bud is a testament to resilience—a promise that after a harsh season, life's cycle renews.

Health tips from our Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physician:

“Bundle up” in early spring (chūn wǔ,春捂): Spring weather can be unpredictable, with sudden shifts in temperature. If you remove heavy clothing too soon, you risk catching a cold. There is a similar saying in English: “Never cast a clout till May be out.”

Comb your hair 100 times in the morning: According to The Treatise on Health Preservation (《养生论》), written by Ji Kang during the Three Kingdoms period (220-260 A.C.), it is recommended to comb your hair hundreds of times every morning in spring. This practice aligns with the rising Yang energy of spring, and also helps prevent hair loss.

Stretch your body: Spring is associated with the liver and gallbladder in TCM, with the meridians running along the sides of the body. Stretching, especially side stretches or practicing yoga, can be beneficial for promoting the smooth flow of liver Qi.
