Birds chirping, wind rustling, bees buzzing… Here comes Spring Equinox, the 4th traditional Chinese solar term. Equally dividing day and night — it’s a season to embrace balance, renewal, and growth, a time when warmth meets refreshment.

Health tips from our Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physician:

Drink Green Tea: Spring is the season when green tea is harvested, and tea picked before “Qingming” (the next solar term) is especially prized for its fresh taste. The newly picked green tea captures the vibrant energy of spring, without the excessive “coolness” that developed in stored green tea. Spring is also a time when people often feel sluggish or sleepy, so drinking green tea can help relieve this seasonal fatigue.

Smooth Liver Qi with Acupressure: Ease seasonal irritability by massaging Taichong (LV3), the Liver Meridian's source point between the big and second toes. Pair with gentle exercises like Baduanjin to regulate Qi flow and curb Liver Fire rising.

Prevent Allergy: Flowers start to bloom in full swing during the season, and pollen can trigger allergies. In TCM, allergies are associated with wind-related imbalances, and since spring is dominated by the "wind" element, it's important to strengthen the body's defenses. For those with rhinitis, wearing a mask outdoors and regularly massaging Yingxiang (LI20) can help relieve symptoms.
