On June 22, Zhejiang Provincial “Dual Promotion of Medical Technical Capability and Medical Quality Level” news conference -  Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital Special Session was held on Qingchun Campus. Notable presenters were Guo Yanhong, deputy director general of the Medical and Political Administration of National Health Commission, Ma Xudong, deputy director of Medical Quality Department of National Health Commission and Ma Weihang, deputy director of Health and Family Planning Commission of Zhejiang Province. Besides that, nearly 50 central provinces and municipalities media are present to experience the clinical application of minimally invasive technology and witness the latest progress of medical quality management.

Pioneer of minimally invasive technology in China

Since its establishment in 1994, SRRSH constantly drew lessons from the successful experience and management patterns of excellent foreign and domestic institutions, which made itself achieve a great-leap-forward development. For the past few years, the hospital has become a leader of domestic minimally invasive technology. The amount of endoscopic surgery in the hospital accounted for 70% of the total surgery amount

A few fields like Minimally invasive hepatobiliary surgery, keratoplasty, low back pain diagnosis and treatment, complex coronary heart disease and atrial fibrillation diagnosis, assisted reproduction have  reached the leading level in the country. 

In December 2017, SRRSH took lead in establishing the abdominal viscera minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of clinical medical research center of Zhejiang Province. It not only responded to the national strategy, but also filled the blank of the country’s construction in the minimally invasive surgery centers. 

Multiple SRRSH techniques and operations are internationally initiatives, making the forbidden operation zone to be a safe area.

Continuous medial quality improvement and remarkable achievements of delicacy management 

(1) The hospital is the pioneer of setting up pre-admission center in China. Through the unified centralized management of the whole hospital bed and one-stop preoperative examination, the limited bed resources got maximized utilization.

(2) The average length of stay (ALOS) maintained at the lowest domestic level. In 2017, the ALOS is 6.25 days.

(3) The medication revenue proportion of total revenue was 29.5%, and the proportion of antibiotics-use was 10.87%, which maintained at the lowest domestic level among all the AAA-level comprehensive hospitals.

(4) In DRGs Medical Quality Performance Evaluation, the growth rate of the third type surgery and the fourth surgery ranks the first in the whole province.

(5) The medical quality management, which has been summarized as the reproducible SRRSH mode, gained recognition and popularity in the medical field nationwide.
