Song Xiangyang, M.D. & Ph.D., Chief Physician of the Surgical Oncology Department. Dr. Song graduated from Zhejiang University School of Medicine in 1995 and received training in the General Surgery Department at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital as a resident and fellow doctor. Focusing on breast cancer, he is the first one to introduce and adopt techniques such as breast conservation surgery, sentinel node biopsy and oncoplastic breast conservation surgery. He is also the first one in China to use laparoscopically harvested omentum for oncoplastic breast conservation surgery. Based on his research on sentinel node biopsy, Dr. Song was awarded the Science and Technology Prize of Zhejiang Province in 2005.
