The General Surgery Department has pioneered the minimally invasive surgery and laparoscopic surgery in Zhejiang Province. We are a comprehensive department, covering four branches of surgery: Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery department, Gastrointestinal Surgery department, Hernia Surgery department and Vascular Surgery department. We have completed the greatest number, and most diverse laparoscopic surgeries in the province, making up one of the largest collections of case study resources in the world.
Under the leadership of Prof. Xiujun Cai, the General Surgery Department has developed its own surgical culture, achieving a great reputation for laparoscopic surgery in the Zhejiang Province, especially in laparoscopic hepatectomy, which was first performed in 1998. The technique of laparoscopic hepatectomy by curettage and aspiration was developed, including design of the innovative instrument: the laparoscopic Peng’s multifunctional operative dissector (LPMOD), which has made progress in technique and brought benefits to patients. Recently, our hospital has introduced the advanced technique of the de Vinci Surgical System, allowing robotic surgical procedures to become routine in the future.
The skills of the surgeons in the General Surgery Department are very advanced. They are specialized in laparoscopic surgeries, including cholecystectomy, common bile duct exploration, hepatectomy, pancreatectomy, surgery for gastric and colorectal cancer and inguinal hernia repair. As well as laparoscopic procedures, our surgeons are able to perform vascular and endovascular surgery for venous or arterial diseases, surgery for hilar cholangiocarcinoma, periampullary carcinoma, and abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Not only is our surgery beautifully performed, but it is done with minimal expense, and minimal invasion. What’s more, it drastically decreases the hospital stay and improves patient quality of life. Giving you sincerity, confidence and love!
