Colon and Rectal Surgery

Overview

Colon and Rectal Surgery was established in 2004. Our department currently has 27 faculty members. Under the leadership of Director Huang Xuefeng, the department has achieved fruitful results in both clinical and research works. Guided by the concept of "minimally invasive, painless and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS)", the department is committed to the diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of colorectal and anal tumors, hemorrhoids, anal fistula, anal fissure, inflammatory bowel disease, constipation, and other diseases. We have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complicated diseases. In recent years, our department performs over 1,000 cases of colorectal tumor surgery every year, and the proportion of minimally invasive colorectal surgery is around 90%. We are the first unit in the Zhejiang province to carry out robotic laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery with the largest number of operations. Our department is also one of the earliest units in Zhejiang Province to start the multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment mode of colorectal tumor (CRC-MDT), making multidisciplinary the routine diagnosis and treatment mode of colorectal cancer. In terms of scientific research, our department undertakes more than 20 national, provincial and ministerial key scientific research fund projects. Our research focuses on colorectal cancer biological therapy and drug resistance mechanisms. The research results have won many provincial and ministerial first and second prizes. We have also published more than 100 papers in high-influential journals.
