Over a decade of development, the Dentistry Department of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital has two dental clinic centers, Qingchun and Qiantang. The two centers consist of 30 dentists, 27 dental assistants, 6 technicians and 1 practice manager with 41 dental chairs. Implantology
The Dentistry department of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital conducts around 2000 implant treatments annually for patients from all over the country. Supported by a professional team and the latest techniques, we are renowned in the academic field. We provide all types of comprehensive implant treatment, e.g. immediate implant, edentulous jaw implant and immediate prosthodontics, aesthetic implant treatment of anterior teeth, complex bone augmentation and soft tissue surgery, and all-on-four and implant guide plate treatment. In our dental centers, digital techniques are used to achieve more accurate prosthodontics, e.g. digital oral scanning system and digital guide plate immediate printing system.
Prosthodontics
We provide comprehensive and comfortable treatment for prosthodontic patients. Our team is experienced and skillful in the treatment of all types of tooth defects, dentition defects and edentulous situation, especially esthetic restoration and functional reconstruction. Fixed prostheses, removable partial dentures, complete dentures and implant-supported dentures are provided for patients in need. We are one of the first dental clinics to apply fixed prosthesis techniques in China and CAD-CAM techniques in Zhejiang Province.
Periodontics
Cooperating with the Dental School of Loma Linda University, we have trained the first team of dental hygienists in China. The team of periodontists together with dental hygienists is committed to providing standardized and systematical therapies for periodontal patients. In particular, periodontal-oriented multidisciplinary treatment approaches have brought favorable clinical outcomes to patients with severe periodontitis, such as dental pulp treatment, extraction of impacted teeth, orthodontics, restoration and implantation. With the cutting-edge equipment and techniques (e.g. Florida computer-assisted probe, water laser, EMS painless ultrasound, ultrasonic bone knife, etc.), we have saved tens of thousands of natural teeth that could have been extracted, improving patients’ life quality greatly. Complicated therapeutic approaches have been applied and developed in our daily treatment, including periodontal tissue regeneration, periodontal plastic surgeries in both esthetic and functional zones, implant treatment in periodontitis patients and management of peri-implantitis.
Orthodontics
The orthodontic section of the Dentistry department provides patients with all kinds of comprehensive orthodontic treatment. Having offering straight-wire self-ligated fixed appliance treatment since 2003, we are able to provide both adult and adolescent patients with fixed, removable and invisible braces using the latest technique. Interceptive and preventive orthodontics in primary and mixed dentition is also conducted, especially in patients with abnormal oral habits, e.g. mouth breath due to the obstruction of the airway. For dental-facial orthopedic surgery patients, we can provide pre-surgical and post-surgical orthodontic treatment.
Pediatric dentistry
The pediatric section started to provide professional dental care for children and adolescents in 2010. The clinic integrates pediatric dental care with teaching. All the clinical diagnosis and treatment standards are set according to the guidelines of IAPD and AAPD. The care service covers most of the pediatric dental diseases, including pediatric dental behavior management, prevention and operative treatment of dental caries, endodontic treatment of primary teeth and young permanent teeth, the emergent and serial treatment for dental trauma and the occlusive guidance in early stage. The pediatric dental clinic has long-term cooperation with the dental school of Loma Linda University. We also take part in all kinds of international academic meetings and seminars to learn cutting-edge information and to keep providing high-level dental service for all pediatric dental patients.
